The biggest problem I had with his piece is his use of the phrase "...her fattage shimmered...". I just googled the word "fattage" and apparently it has something to do with ones weight to height ratio, but I still hate that phrase. Im not quite sure what he was trying to convey with that phrase, but it just did nothing for me. And because of that first bad experience, I have not tried Channer again.

He keeps getting published, so I know Im in the minority!

LLola Getshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07058543308191117858noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5433891002975715644.post-4916252195406663382008-04-13T10:42:00.000-04:002008-04-13T10:42:00.000-04:00You already know I love this post! You might make me move him up to the front of the line.

I'm glad you're considering taking up your writing again. Blogging here regularly is a good start. Like you, it also takes me entirely too long to write posts. I swear I have ADD sometimes! But in the end, when I sit back and read what I created, it's SO worth it. I miss the novel I did complete and am itching to go back and revise it. I miss my characters. I am working on my self-discipline. The time is now, while it's all about me.

I look forward to seeing the other writers you enjoy. I can't wait for Dianne M-Whetstone's next one that should be out soon...if it's not out now.Vivrant Thanghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07452231996285146973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5433891002975715644.post-32944106045818509322008-04-11T18:09:00.000-04:002008-04-11T18:09:00.000-04:00I love Colin Channer! Honestly, I haven't made time to read much lately either. Feeling inspired, huh? When you gonna come through and get a book?

NYer - Tell me about it. I'm so jealous that you've found something to do that you truly love. That is what's up!

ieisha - I love this book but I can admit that it has its flaws. Give it another try though. Different time, different perspective. I've grown into a EJD fan. His first couple books did nothing for me but his latest offerings are very good. Thanks for the advice and encouragement.Skoolboi Krushhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05387558722357812538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5433891002975715644.post-31554198738242120962008-04-11T13:40:00.000-04:002008-04-11T13:40:00.000-04:00Reading these passages have me thinking of giving ...Reading these passages have me thinking of giving Mr. Channer another chance. I attempted Waiting in Vain a few years back and didn't dig it all. I'm an EJD fan through and through but I'm older and wiser so I may appreciate his writings more now.

As for the book, my BFF has been writing a novel for 10 years now and I think she's on chapter 1, lol. I feel ya pain.

Check out Walter Mosley's advice on writing a novel in a year. The book is called "This Year You Write Your Novel"...hopefully that helps.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5433891002975715644.post-25411435931186764032008-04-11T12:52:00.000-04:002008-04-11T12:52:00.000-04:00Writing is a mother*BLEEP*But I honestly don't kno...Writing is a mother*BLEEP*

But I honestly don't know what else I can do in this life to bring me as much pleasure and satisfaction as writing does, and I've tried A LOT of stuff!
